Adaptive Skills Technician - Job Opening

What is Adaptive Skills Training?

Adaptive skills training enhances the individual’s overall quality of life. Individuals aged 2 to adult are able to access these services. Principles and procedures for assessing and shaping behavior target the following skill areas: functional academics, self-help skills, safety skills, community access, communication, social skills, job prerequisites, and self-management.

Self-care skills are one of the first ways that children develop the ability to plan and sequence task performance, organize the necessary materials, and develop the refined physical control required to carry out daily tasks (e.g. opening lunch boxes, drawing, or standing to pull up pants).

Social skills are the skills we use every day to interact and communicate with others. They include verbal and non-verbal communication, such as speech, gestures, facial expressions, and body language. A person has strong social skills if they know how to behave in social situations and understand written and implied rules when communicating with others.

Functional academics are merely made functional and designed to teach skills that allow each student to succeed in real-life situations at home, school, work, and the community.
