Moving Youth Forward

Since 2008, we have been dedicated to empowering young individuals to progress in their lives.

Adaptive Skills Training

Adaptive skills training is designed to enhance the individual’s overall quality of life. Individual’s age 2 to adult are able to access these services. Principles and procedures for assessing and shaping behavior are used to target the following skill areas: functional academics, self-help skills, safety skills, community access, communication, social skills, job prerequisites, and self-management.

An assessment is conducted using an adaptive skills assessment. Once the assessment is completed, a report is composed and submitted to the funding source (regional center or private pay). The assessment report will provide an overview of the individual’s skill deficits, targeted goals, and behavior change procedures that will drive program development and implementation.

All programs are structured to record quantitative and qualitative data, which are used to drive the decision-making process. Skills are taught in the home and community environments.

Adaptive Skills Training

Increasing Independence

Program monitoring is performed in the same environment the service is provided. The Licensed Program Director will monitor data to decide the course of treatment, provide feedback to the Instructors, and train continuity of care with the parents/caretakers. All programs are implemented by Social Stamina subcontractors who all receive an initial training on the principles and procedures for analyzing and changing behavior, which includes program specific guidelines to deliver adaptive skills programming with a child (adult). Social Stamina emphasizes the importance or parent/caretaker involvement. Parents will be taught how to manage and maintain their child’s skills when the programming has been completed.

Functional Academics

Functional academics is merely academics made functional designed to teach skills which allow each student to succeed in real-life situations at home, school, work and in the community.

Self Help Skills

Self care skills are one of the first ways that children develop the ability to plan and sequence task performance, to organise the necessary materials and to develop the refined physical control required to carry out daily tasks (e.g. opening lunch boxes, drawing or standing to pull up pants).

Social Skills

Social skills are the skills we use every day to interact and communicate with others. They include verbal and non-verbal communication, such as speech, gesture, facial expression and body language. A person has strong social skills if they have the knowledge of how to behave in social situations and understand both written and implied rules when communicating with others.

Attention-Deficit Disorder (ADD) / Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)

Many children with attention deficit disorders face challenges in staying on task, following through with activities, or managing restless energy like fidgeting and excessive talkativeness. ADHD often presents in two primary ways—hyperactive or inattentive—and some children experience a combination of both. The degree of severity can vary, influencing daily activities and executive functioning skills. While each type brings its own challenges at school and at home, there is hope for meaningful growth with the right support.

How Social Stamina Behavior Consult Services Can Help

Our program is thoughtfully designed to help children thrive by addressing each child’s unique needs. Led by licensed educational psychologists, behavior analysts, educators, and technicians, we provide in-office support to strengthen executive functioning, social skills, and emotional regulation, fostering greater independence at home and at school. We also offer cooperative learning opportunities that help address the academic and behavioral concerns associated with ADHD—giving every child the chance to shine, grow, and succeed.

Hyperactive ADHD

Children with hyperactive ADHD often have trouble sitting still, waiting their turn, or holding back from blurting out answers. These behaviors can carry over into home life, making tasks and responsibilities difficult to complete. However, with specialized strategies, they can channel their energy and build more effective habits.

Inattentive ADHD

Those who are primarily inattentive may slip under the radar, as symptoms like daydreaming or missing details can go unnoticed. These students might overlook assignments, struggle to follow multi-step directions, or lose track of essential materials. Despite these challenges, positive reinforcement and structured support can help them harness their natural talents.

Common Behavioral Issues Related to ADHD

Because ADHD can lead to restlessness, impulsivity, or distractions, it can create disruptions in the classroom and strain interactions at home. Yet, with individualized approaches and a supportive environment, students can learn strategies to manage these behaviors and cultivate more harmonious relationships with peers, siblings, and caregivers.
